Some artists are also shown stylized. See for instance dc Talk instead of DC Talk.

Talking about capitalization, shouldn't 'is' be capitalized in English titles? This site have a tendency to not do so:

Yes verbs are capitalized in American English titles.

Here are the rules for capitalization in titles according to The Chicago Manual of Style:
1. Always capitalize the first and the last word.
2. Capitalize all nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and subordinate conjunctions ("as", "because", "although").
3. Lowercase all articles, coordinate conjunctions ("and", "or", "nor"), and prepositions regardless of length, when they are other than the first or last word.
4. Lowercase the "to" in an infinitive.

...but are we following American English on this site?

I for one, would love to see 'centre' 'honour' and 'realise' without spelling issues. Which is the international English - American or UK? I know Canada uses UK English - does Australia?

No, we are following the BEA style rules, whatever they happen to be.

Yes, Australia follows UK English.

I generally just capitalise all first letters as that's what usually appears with my digital collection.

I think it's paradoxical because you want consistency, but will adopt a position that's not consistent with the language. It's not a "style" issue, it's down to whether you want your site to be accurate or not, regardless of the orther sites' inaccuracy to linguistic rules.

The other sites adopt the same position, not because they want to be 'inaccurate', but because they are in English.

Norman Bates wrote:
Not at all! What I was saying was that these titles are corrected afterwards (see my first post)by people who don't speak one single word of the language. You know I generally update the data myself, and in proper French; when I come back it's been corrected.

I'm sorry, but not everyone on the site can speak multiple languages. Who is going to correct styling issues in Japanese, Urdu, or Chinese? Albums could come from any country on Earth, or in any language (including Klingon & Elfish!), and to correctly obey the grammar rules from each language would be next to impossible. Most people here speak English as a first or second language, otherwise they wouldn't be participating on the forums, so most people here are at least capable of maintaining the database using that language.

Norman Bates wrote:
I yield to the master of the premises, of course. But I want it noted that I think it is a mistake, and disrespectful of the languages' rules. Personally, I prefer not to enter any new French albums rather than see them wrongly written, or even corrected b y people who don't understand one single word of what they're writing. Plus I'd have thought accuracy to be the mot important factor on the site. Disappointing.

Nearly everything that happens here is as a result of feedback from members. The site has been running seven years, and this is the first time this subject has ever been mentioned. Nothing is being translated into English. The only difference is the title caps, which is in common with other sites far bigger than BEA (or RYM).

Norman Bates wrote:
But as I said, it's not a big problem, it's a detail. It's a telling detail, but just a detail I guess. I'll be perfectly happy with putting English-only music on my charts.

Any problem is a problem to me.

Norman Bates wrote:
Thanks for answering anyway.

Sorry that we have different perspectives on this one.

It's getting to the stage where the site needs additional instructions to take care of some of the details that are being raised. These are the top 10 languages that visitors use on BEA:

1. US English 58.13%
2. UK English 6.38%
3. Chinese 4.79%
4. English (international) 3.34%
5. French 2.91%
6. Portuguese 2.38%
7. Spanish 2.18%
8. Dutch 1.73%
9. German 1.68%
10. Italian 1.46%

If a title is in American English, UK English, Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, or whatever, the spellings are not affected (only the capitalisation). I'd have to check the differences between the capitalisation of American versus UK English, but I think the rules are the same.

RFNAPLES wrote:

Artist names on BEA obey the styling of the artist. They are treated differently to album titles.

I agree they need further refining. This thread is raising some important issues, and any changes that need making can then be made.
