a friend of mine (neurosurgeon major) was just kicked out of college/lost all scholarships due to what is a false rape allegation

he did have sex with the woman, but it's obvious that it wasn't rape

she just came to the U.S. from China so i feel like she has a good chance with getting away at this

does anyone have a solution to this?

and please, please don't make this a debate on feminism or whatnot.

well i mean, naturally i'll take his word. he's a "nerdy" Asian 18 year old who has focused on school and only school for forever. she filed it the morning after which to me screams regret, but i'm not too knowledgeable on any of the whole political side of rape allegations other than statutory rape

I can't speak to the specific situation (though false rape allegations have to be really fucking exceedingly rare considering how much a woman has to go through when she tells people, where people act like she has to prove something and judge her and fucking disgusting shit like that), but do you realize how fucked your whole attitude towards it is? Obviously your friend can't be a rapist because he is a nerdy 18 year old Asian...and then the comment about how reporting it the morning after screams "regret"? Like, for fuck's sake...And you post it on a public forum, too. Why don't you also post the girl's information so we can stone her to death for having the gall to speak up? It just always happens where the girl is questioned ten times over and rapists are always made excuses for. I don't know your friend or the situation, but your attitude about it is so fucking inappropriate.

in the u.s., the best thing to do in any situation like this is to lawyer up.

*edit: i will add that chinese girls are much more hesitant to report rape than american girls (who are already super-hesitant to do so).

you support your friends in situations, but i'm assuming you weren't there. if she's got a case, the evidence will come out, and if he's innocent, there'll be nothing there. the police take rape allegations seriously, but like with any case, they're going to be following the evidence trail.

Look, I'm not disagreeing with you at all but if your best friend had just been accused in rape you'd probably be really confused and trying to find answers too. Different people deal with things differently. Some go into denial, some people go into shock, etc. Precedent is not the potential monster here.
