Naples is right. I don't like suicide either. It has massive cost to society. (Just ask the poor high speed train operators in the UK.) That said, just because I oppose it, doesn't mean I think it should be outlawed. How would you police it? Would punishing those who have attempted suicide really solve anything? I understand that there are often mental health issues at play, so we need to commit resources to de-stigmatizing mental illness and providing those in emotional pain with support or other outlets.
Euthanasia is a different issue. If someone has a terminal condition, and is in great pain, I can understand their wish to die.
