I believe pearljammer is from Boston, or close to it. Hopefully we'll get an "I'm okay" from him at some point.

Indeed I'm okay. I live 50 minutes outside Boston, although I do know several people who were in the city today. As far as I know all are safe. Thoughts and prayers going out to everyone effected by this.
It clearly looks like a terrorist attack, though they have no one in custody yet. They dismantled a 3rd bomb earlier, and there was a big fire at the JFK library, but they don't know if it's connected. Hopefully there is nothing else out there and the worst is over. They've done the right thing by cancelling the Bruins game tonight obviously, and thank god nothing happened at the Red Sox game.
They're saying the explosions were low to the ground, which is why there have been amputations and limb loss for several people. Hopefully the death toll doesn't rise much if at all. Terrible that things like this continue to happen.

Good to hear, I have a friend who's spending a semester of Uni in Boston and actually was at the marathon today. Thankfully we've heard from him and he wasn't close to the bombings.

I THINK I remember hearing that the explosions came from bins.

...damn, there was also some Newtown victims at the race too  . They've been through enough. None of them killed or injured though (that I know of).
