I think the French part is hilariously bad. Cool listen otherwise.

I really like Reflektor but I hope the rest of the album doesn't emulate the disco sound they're trying to achieve.

After all the fuss and hype, I thought it was something of a disappointment. Too long for a start, Mr Bowie dosen't appear until 4:50 and the dance/disco influence is rather worrying. Hope there is more guitar based music on the album. Not loving this single! Surprised

I actually really loved the single. I wasn't expecting the disco/dance beat, but it worked for their style after the joyfully rebellious sound that was The Suburbs. This has got me even more hyped for the next album! Very Happy

It's pretty good, which obviously means everyone else will think it's the best thing ever. That's what tends to happen when Arcade Fire are involved.

Sometimes I think they're very good, sometimes I think they're fantastic, sometimes I think they're extremely average. There seems to be a certain proportion of music fans who believe they can do no wrong, though. I think this is a pretty good song, if very similar to many other indie dance songs and a little bit consciously anthemic for my liking, but I believe that a lot of people will think it's amazing. That's what I was trying to get at. Whenever I think Arcade Fire do something good, everybody else seems to think it's great. I know this isn't true. It was an exaggeration, partly for comic effect, partly to emphasise a point, and partly because my rhetorical comfort zone is one of cheap, snide remarks aimed at showing my disdain for [insert whoever the fuck you like here]. Sorry, I appear to have gone on a bit of a tangent there. But, to answer your question, yes it was a joke and no it wasn't. Hope that helps.

After the garbage that was their last album I wasn't anticipating any kind of follow up. But then James Murphy was announced as producing the new album and suddenly I was wet. He could give Arcade Fire an electronic kick they needed. Then I heard the song and it was dull as poo...so I'm back where I was Confused . It sounds like they're not even sure what they want their new sound to be (although more guitar certainly isn't the answer).
