I like it. I do have to say, though, that seeing The Wall at #87 among some pretty good choices hurt. It hurt bad.

I still don't understand the vitriol towards The Wall from some users on BEA.

I love this chart. There's a really strong balance between decades and genres, and quite a few unexpected surprises like Machina II

I just think it's the masturbatory, self-congratulatory, self-indulgent nature of the whole thing that turns me off. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Laughing
As a major fan of the album I can tell you masturbatory is the FARTHEST thing from The Wall! Self-indulgent and self-congratulatory I might agree with.

EDIT: After reading Squid's below comment, I'm very sure he'll NEVER understand the beauty of a rock opera.

Sometimes it's fun to ire others by being contrarian. In the case of The Wall, however, for me two things that stick out are the forced concept and the fact that it's a double album. There is probably enough half way decent material on The Wall to make a tolerable single disc. You try to squeeze the over dramatic story in there and you just wind up with a bunch of unnecessary filler designed to advance the narrative. A narrative that I have no interest in.

I hardly think you are any sort of authority on what's masturbatory and what isn't. You are positively terrified of penises.

But people love Umma Gumma for the same shit, and that was way more self-indulgent. Pink Floyd probably never made a post-Syd album that wasn't masturbatory.

Plus this is a list that also includes Kanye, Mars Volta, Zeppelin. All of them just as equally self-congratulatory.

I've been watching How I Met Your Mother and I love it. And donpt you ever say I'm terrified if them. I understand the vulgarity of whipping them out in public and you all don't.
