So, quite a stir today in France about yesterday's revelations that the French presidency (and selected ministers) has been tapped by the U.S. for a little less than 10 years (i.e. ever since 2006 at least - that would be three presidents), either (or both?) from an installation on the roof of the U.S. embassy in Paris, or (and?) through the German espionage services. |

Well, the US spies on everyone, within and without its borders. It's really just a matter of catching them to call them out on it. _________________

Yeah the US government has absolutely no good intentions and tries to harm everyone and spies on everyone I have no evidence to prove this but I saw some angry ultra-liberal people on the internet say those things so they're automatically true

At this point should anybody really be genuinely surprised?
I donno, I have a suspicion every government these days is spying on every other government out there. Nobody can be trusted. Vote Reagan.

Didn't mean to make you shed red, white, and blue tears there. I don't think the US government has no good intentions and tries to harm everybody, but do you really want to deny US spying practices? _________________

They're banking on Islamic extremists not understanding their own religion, I guess. If they really want to deter Muslims from using their guns, they should draw a stick figure on them and label it, "Muhammad".

So Boehner sacrificed himself to prevent government shutdown. That's something.

I really loved the idea that someone had, which was to set the short term deal to expire in early to mid October of next year, which would force a shutdown right before the election and quite possible cost the GOP the house, or would force them to at least wait til after the elections were through. It's only a little extra time but it's something. _________________

alright so after discussing politics with a few friends, i think that i have come up with a term that describes my views:
progressive conservatism
is there a party (be it one of the more underground parties or one of the larger ones) that fits that general idea?
