Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 18% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.1/100, a mean average of 74.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.7.

Great album. Lo-fi like Elvis Depressedly but with a more experimental edge. Entertaining from start to finish
Has a lot of solid tracks, but is kind of all over the place. Seems like Alex G had a hard time sticking to one type of sound for this album. Either that, or he just doesn't care.
Highlights- Sportstar, Powerful Man
Very ambitious album. It's kind of scattered, though. There were a lot of experimental ideas that Alex tinkered with; some of them work, and a few of them don't. Took me a few listens to really get into the album.
Highlights- Proud, Bobby, Brick, Sportstar, Judge, Powerful Man
Its better than most indie folk albums released this year. (and maybe its just me, but there have been alot.)
Texturally ambitious, gorgeously recorded, and strikes this really odd balance between the droning/folkier tracks. This flows so well considering the awkward contrast in musical style between the tracks.
Probably my AOTY thus far.
This is my album of the year so far. It's very eclectic but held together through some subtle sonic touches. It's warm yet challenging. My rating may increase with time, but for now it is a solid 8/10. Highly recommend.
