Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 11% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.9/100, a mean average of 73.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.1.

English review.
A great album. I loved the noise-rock sound, it gives it an underground atmosphere, very similar to bands like Pixies or Sonic Youth used. The first song "Get Away" is undoubtedly the best of the album, its guitar intro together with the catchy chorus make it great. "Suicide policeman" and "Operation" are 2 other very good songs that deserve to be highlighted. The rest of the songs maintain the quality and ends up being a highly recommended album if you like "alternative rock", "noise-rock" or "Garage Rock".

This album very easily glides from one subgenre of rock to the next and really does take you on a musical journey through 90's era rock music, as that is what it is so heavily inspired by. It is both erratic and fun with the first few tracks and then also slower and more relaxing near the end providing a nice contrast. The second half is definitely the weaker however and some tracks do feel like they never really get going and struggle when compared against songs like Holing Out and Get Away. The guitar work on this record is brilliant and is a real highlight for me especially on the closing track, Rubber, where it sounds so heavy and ends the album in style. An album that is definitely worth listening to and without the slower songs I would definitely rate it higher than I have.

This has long time been my top album of the decade. Now it isn't any more but it's still top and if you would ask me about my favorite track of the decade than Holing Out would certainly be a contender: they use every trick in the book to make this one of the most dynamic songs you'll ever hear (Teenage Fanclub on speed wouldn't be a bad comparison). But also the rest of the album including the slower songs are nowhere below great.

I think this album made me realize the reason why there is a rating for the album and a rating for each track. After 15 listens, I can say this album doesn't tell me anything at all. I could even say I find it boring. But then, I listen to each track alone, and each one of them is a complete masterpiece. If this album had a different organisation, it would probably be one of my favourites of all time. My favourite tracks are Sunday and Shook Down.

This album is a modern masterpiece. Pavement with shoegazing is a really good idea.

It owes a lot to the rock stylings of the 90s, but it still sounds very fresh and never gets old. The guitar sounds a lot like Dinosaur Jr, but the songs structures are so different (they remind me more of Guided By Voices) that's it's not all that noticeable. The first half is fast and powerful, and then the second half melts into a kind of shoegaze mess. From beginning to end a very good listen, one of the best rock albums from the decade I've heard.

Such a great album. "Rubber" is better than any fuzz-noise rock track I've ever heard. Even the B-sides rocked my socks. Not to mention the teaser "Chew". Such a shame about the new line-up/sophomore record.

For me, this is the album of the decade so far. It combines shoegaze, which is probably my favourite genre, with the Dinousaur Jr. esque indie rock sound, which I also love, and the result is truly fantastic. This album is so very underrated- I mean, its not even in the top ten of the year, when it should be in the top ten of the decade. This album is below Amok, Angles, 21 and the King of Limbs for the decade. What the fuck. And to see Rubber as not a top rated track really hurts me, its such an incredible song. Other great songs are Get Away (obviously, with it probably being my favourite song of the decade), Operation, The Wall and Suicide Policeman. But there aren't any weak tracks on here at all.

This album needs much, much more love.

Well I am only 5 songs in and I already know I love it. How the hell have I avoided this so long?!? It's really annoying that I did.
