Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.9/100, a mean average of 77.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

A surprise package full of artistic jazz pop that manages to stay enjoyable with great melodies and catchy choruses rather than fall into the trap of becoming pretentious.

Conseguiu pegar tanta coisa boa de um jazz mais comercial. Belo trabalho.

I kept on hoping that each track would be instrumental. I love the jazz groves on this album but I find the song structures and lyrics to be uninteresting at best, annoying at worst. This is the perfect case of an album with a great sound but weak songs.

I had very high hopes for this album after hearing the opening tracks but by the end it does slow down and lose your interest. There are a lot of great cuts in between and so it is difficult to get bored. The instrumentation is fantastic as well with lots of variation and each song sounds completely unique. It is also a very smooth and easy listening record and would definitely help to relax if you ever needed to. Overall, not the greatest album but it is definitely far above an average record.

Hot take: The New Pornographers have released 8 albums

Dan Bejar AKA Destroyer has released 12 albums to 2020

Personally I much prefer the formers quality over the latter’s quantity

From listening his latest and first album, I was wondering how this minor artist was even found. But listening to this one, I get it. The only improvement is a slicker production however.

Smooth, jazzy and easy listening. This is the first album I've listened to by Destroyer and was blown away by its excellence. My girlfriend uses this record to calm her nerves during long flights, which is saying something.

Favorite tracks: Kaputt, Suicide Demo for Kara Walker, Downtown

This was actually quite good and interesting. It sounds jazzy and relaxing but is never boring. Unique stuff for sure.
