Amazing songwriting. Original, quirky, funny and moving. The start of a great run of albums from Newman with, I think it's going to rain today, the beautiful highlight. Great stuff.
This album is very short and sweet, but it's the perfect place to start listening to Randy Newman, not so much of the later acidic comedy boy stuff, but still enough subtlety and irony-tinged popular tunesmithery to keep your interest play after play. Classy.
