Like a trippy version of T-Rex. Quite like it.
75 to 80/100 (Fun and cool goes this music with some glam rock and some slacker rock and some occasional blasts of garage rock and stuff. Its good, not sure how to summarize this one, thus this crappy summation.)
This is a strange mini-LP from actual 7 foot tall English glam/slacker rocker Nancy (don't know full name).
The first song is fabulous, and while the melody is pretty blatantly copped from MGMT's "Time To Pretend" it is so damn chill and beautiful and the latter part of this song is a nice change up.
There is a kinda drugged, fumbling, glorious rock and roll energy on this short 28 minute album which I like. There are some gorgeous songs here (like the sweet and sad waltz "Dear Life Give Me a Sign That I Am Not Alone", the title track, and kinda 60s rock pop of "Don't Pass Me By") with consistently catchy and great tunes and a no-fucks-given, take it or leave it attitude which I like. Some of the shorter, seeming-throwaway tracks I also like because they keep the album moving along nicely and they are a great way of reinforcing the general non-chalant and chill flow of the album. Specifically I'm talking about songs like "Happy Happy Happy", the garage punk blast of "Clic Clac" and "Leave Your Cares Behind".
Finally, the closing track sounds like a gothic horror song to start and then throughout it just has a really heavy keyboard sound (i think its a keyboard creating that wall of sound) throughout and some demented ghostly vocals along with some other cools layers of sound. Excellent to finish this strange and refreshing album.
I was surprised by how much I liked this album.
If you like somewhat humorous, imprecise, glam-y slacker rock with some great melodies, with occasional hard rock riffs, maybe you'll find this to your taste.
