Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.6/100, a mean average of 76.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

slow mood encased like a scaled-down rock. nice
Easily the best Beach boy solo album, although that's not saying too much to be honest. Pacific ocean blue, is a coked up, L.A masterpiece. The big Lebowski album sleeve almost sums it up. It sounds like Dennis Wilson's on his last legs, his voice and his heart is breaking as he aches through some beautiful tracks. River song, thoughts of you, and Pacific ocean blues, are all excellent. An overlooked gem.
I had the unique opportunity to sit on a porch overlooking the ocean during a summer storm a few years ago. I listened to Pacific Ocean Blue. The experience brought me to tears.
This album will always be one of my favorites. I really value consistency in albums, and Dennis doesn't have a bad track on the list.
If you have the chance buy the extended version of the album that includes tracks from his next album which was never finished due to his tragic death. Some great instrumental tracks.
Oh, and Thoughts of You may be one of the greatest songs ever written.
