Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 66.8/100, a mean average of 63.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 63.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.3.

Hindu Love Gods one and only album features R.E.M's Peter Buck , Mike Mills and Bill Berry plus Warren Zevon on vocals . It was released on October 5 1990 just after the 'Out Of Time ' recording session and just prior to it's release on March 12 1991
It features 10 extremely rough covers of blues tracks:
Track 1: "Walkin Blues" (written by Son House 1930 then later performed by Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters)
Track 2: "Travelin Riverside Blues" ( Robert Johnson 1937 and later by Led Zep 1969)
Track 3: "Raspberry Beret": (from Prince's 1985 album 'Around the World In A Day ')
Track 4: "Crosscut Saw" (Tommy McClenonn 1941)
Track 5: " Junko Pardner" ( James Waynes 1951 plus a version appeared on The Clashes 1980 album 'Sandinista'
Track 6: "Mannish Boy" ( Muddy Waters 1955 )
Track 7: "Wang Dang Doodle" ( written by Willie Dixon but 1st recorded by Howlin Wolf and released in 1961)
The truly awful Track 8: "Battleship Chains" ( originally written by Terry Anderson & recorded by his band The Woods , but was made famous by The Georgia Satellites on their 1986 debut album)
The similarly terrible track 9: "(I'ma) One Woman Man" ( co-written by Johnny Horton and Tillman Franks but released by Horton in 1936)
Track 10: "Vigilante Man" ( written by Woody Guthrie and released in 1940)
Note: oddly enough 2 Hindu Love Gods songs have turned up on not 1 but 3 compilation albums all which came out June 2018 with "Vigilante Man" appearing on 'The Age Of Protest' and 'Bound For Glory The World Of A Dust Bowl Troubadour' and "Mannish Boy" appearing on 'The Making Of America'
For the R.E.M uber fan only
