Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.4/100, a mean average of 73.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.5.

In a career marked--and sometimes marred--by extravagant experimentation and wild inconsistency, this indie folk album stands out for its relative artistic coherence. Here the focus is on songwriting and storytelling, and the result is a fantastic collection of songs, perhaps best exemplified by the wistful but not exactly nostalgic "Classic Cars," part homage to Hank Williams and part two-ships-in-the-night romance tale.
Themed after a psychic community in Florida, Cassadaga marks a turn in Conor Oberst's career to a more uplifting / slightly less introspective side. However this album does not sacrifice its lyrical genius in the process. All of the instrumental arrangements throughout this album are a tad more lush than on previous efforts, which ends in a result proving how artists can change their sound and moods while still being geniuine to themselves as musicians. Side note: This was the first vinyl record I bought, and my bank account has never been the same.
Middleman is such a classic song with a great intro.
"Cassadaga" follows the feel of "i'm wide awake it's morning" but loses some luster in over-production and the overburden of heavy lyrical wordplay trying to be too smart for his own good. Just spin a good yarn Conor, that's all we really want!
Four Winds was the first song I heard by Bright Eyes. Still the only song I have listened to from this album. The track is well worth a listen but I don't know about the album. Should really give it a listen, you know?
