Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.0/100, a mean average of 75.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.3.

This album is actually crazy! King Diamond's vocals will give you the best nightmare's you'll have in your life. But what I found really interesting was just how they used such bluesy riffs and turned it into this new Black Metal genre. Love this album the whole way through although it's a little bit frightening.

Classic heavy metal, lyrics that could scare a brave person, and solos that hypnotize.

I would get this album if I were you simply for the haunting vocals. Evil is one of the best heavy metal songs ever. Don't get caught up in the fact that the lyrics are openly satanic. Good music is good music. Enjoy.

Have you heard of an album called Unfinished Music No.1: Two Virgins? Even wondered what it would sound like if it was a metal album? Well... you got it right here more or less. Although it isn't freeform and songs are tightly nit pieces, it really does bleed off that vibe. Rusty, red and riff laden, the people who made this knew how to get a stage going. I'm surprised that they are not top of the best lists with songs like this! 'Evil' starts proceedings with a spanner in the face of the bright and merry, making a blast larger than... say 'Fight Fire With Fire'. Drums are a strong point and the guitar stays as innovative as Da Vinci while being interesting to listen to at the same time. 'Into The Coven' and 'At the Sound of the Demon Bell' keep up the theme and prove highlights too. Not one to take to church this is! One of the greatest strengths is the vocals mouth with many voices. Wow, talk about going from one extreme to the other! Judas Priest comes to mind with the higher notes. In a way, you could compare to the sound to 'British Steel' if songs were more prone to leap away from the blue print of the modern hit song. Does it have hits though? This one? Some signature song to play and bring back those late night memories of youth through Sunday morning radio? Well not really. Doesn't matter though, it's got 'Satan's Fall'. Put it on the mp3 and continue writing your own story. Let it shake your world and take your dreams.
