Definitely a work in progress. I would call this chart Top 100 Favorite Music Albums instead of Top 100 Greatest Music Albums. That's why it's so fluid, and explains why I have 3 Built to Spill albums in my top 10, including one of their most obscure albums, instead of an all Beatles, Radiohead and Zeppelin top 10. These albums have had the most impact on my life, and I have little concern for critical consensus.

This is the first BtS album I ever listened to. There are years of significant memories tied to this album. It has all of the elements of a great BtS album, namely, beautifully messy guitars, powerful hooks, funny and poignant lyrics and Doug's unique vocals. They've released better produced and engineered records that I love, but none have quite had the impact on me that this one has had. I've probably listened to it more than any other album ever, over the course of nearly 17 years, and it still overwhelms me as it did the first time I heard it. I can't think of a better standard than that.

Great chart. There's albums here I don't know but there isn't a single one I don't like and that's a first on this site, hence you have the highest score I've given yet. I completely get your reasons especially your comment about your #1 album being the first Built to Spill album you heard. I find that with a lot of bands I love, the album I heard first is my favourite even though they have other albums that are percieved to be critically better. Music is subjective and your mindset at the point you hear an album can make a big difference in how you hear it.
