Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 6% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 80.5/100, a mean average of 79.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.6/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.7.

Giving this 100/100 just does a massive disservice to the far better tracks on this album and the myriad of great songs that exist throughout the music world.

Glaringly the weakest song on the album. Real good stand-alone song, though. A testament to how amazing the rest of the album is.

Nice to have a slow, atmospheric one before Gouge Away, but this is the only time the album drags a little for me.

Possibly the most underrated Pixies track ever. Hauntingly gorgeous.

This eerie Kim Deal-led song probably deserves a little more love than it gets on BEA, though it rightly gets overshadowed by the peppier and more memorable tracks on Doolittle. Deal, usually the bassist, adds some creepy work on the slide guitar.

Those weird voices and that slider makes for a very special song.
