Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 90.9/100, a mean average of 90.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.7/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.2.

Maybe I “don’t get it” but the only good part of this song was the guitar outro. To be honest his vocal style I not only don’t like but it’s honestly cringy to listen to. Everyone recommends this album so I keep trying it but every time I listen I honestly dislike it more. Maybe it’s just not meant for me. I’m glad a lot of people get something out of it but unfortunately I am not one of those people.
This was on every even slightly edgy person's myspace in the golden era of social media and the internet. This was the type of song that I wasn't sure if I had to get headphones to listen to in my family's living room where we all shared access to the same PC with a CRT monitor. I'm still not sure whether I should have muted it, but I ended up muting it.
I remember revisiting it as a swan song for my fading fundamentalist christianity as a young adult and it punched pretty hard. Even most of my christian friends did and still recognize it as a really great track with it's obvious christian themes, with a phenomenal arrangement, song structure, lyrics, and emotion.
And how can you not like the outro guitar track? Sounds like something you'd hear from matt slocum from sixpence none the richer.
The best song about doubt and faith ever written, and possibly my favorite song of all time. Perfect in every way!
Probably the best song on the album.
In my opinion, this is one of the best-written songs of all time. The poetically heart-breaking lyrics and tangibly emotive artistic expression amount to perfection.
One of the most perfect songs ever written, definetely in my top 10 songs of all time
Jesus Christ that some heartbreaking lyrics
