Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.0/100, a mean average of 90.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.5/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.8.

Just an amazing song, very catchy and builds beautifully.
Stunning. Beautiful. Perfect. All accurate words to describe this song. The ethereal instrumentation is just so damn good, and the way it builds from this soft lullaby into a full-fledged serenade is simply amazing. Yes, it may have the single most nonsensical lyric sheet of any song on The Lamb, but Gabriel's hushed delivery, which builds in tone alongside the music, paints the wild imagery in such a perfect way. This is the best song on The Lamb, and one of the best pieces that Genesis ever recorded.
Irresistibly beautiful song. The fact that Gabriel's lyrics once again raise questions is not really affecting the beauty of the song. This is Genesis at its best. Less prog rock, more timeless music.
This is the best track of the Genesis with Peter Gabriel era, for me. It starts slowly but how it builds and builds until it is flying; until it takes on a force that leaves the rest of the album behind - and great lyrics like Pal says.
this song contains an introductory verse that sounds out-of-place with the rest of the song, but it carries the narrative through well. When Tony's synth-piano arrives, the song begins to take off. This is our hero sinking into the abyss. "a salamander scurries into flame to be destroyed. / imaginary creatures are trapped at birth on celluloid" as "the crawlers cover the floor in a red, ochre corridor. / for my second sight of people, they've more lifeblood than before" "like the forest fight for sunlight, that takes root in every tree, they are pulled up by the magnet, believing they're free". i love the rolling synth-piano. Awesome song. More: "the porcelain mannequin with shattered skin fears attack / the eager pack lift up their pitchers -- they carry all they lack. / the liquid has congealed, which has seeped out through the crack, / and the tickler takes his stickleback." Love this one.
