Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

This track is rated in the top 2% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 85.0/100, a mean average of 86.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.5/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.7.

Emmylou Harris's touching elegy to her star-crossed lover and musical collaborator Gram Parsons. This song has special resonance for me, as I once moved from the Deep South to Boulder to live with my then-partner, and you can be assured I would have walked all that way just to see her face. The song's reference to wildfires also has significance to me personally, as I lived in a small mountain town called Gold Hill and rented a cabin that had been one of two structures that nearly burned to the ground in the Fourmile Canyon Fire in 2010. I wasn't there at the time, luckily, but the charred trees from that fire comprised the view out my bedroom window.
