Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

The title track of the very fascinating album “Killer” is, both in terms of musical performance and lyrics, among the best that Alice Cooper (as a band) ever delivered. Of course it is not easy to give an explanation when songs such as "Halo or Flies" or "Dead Babies" get most attention. In its entirety, “Killer” appears to be the translation of a Film Noir. It doesn't take much imagination to see how some undefined character slides into the underworld to become a hit man. Apparently he took that step without much thinking. Something that he complains halfheartedly and without much conviction the moment he realizes that he’s no longer the hunter, but became the prey. The song consists of roughly three parts: a man becomes a contract killer after he gets a gun from "someone" and he goes all the way, a solemn lament (possibly the assassin was killed himself and the public is present at the funeral) deployed by men and women who cry excessively loudly, and finally a collage of sounds that I cannot explain in the light of this song, but where the most important, particularly loudly mixed part evokes the image of a liquid or something similar is flushed away at a very fast pace. Part 2 consists of a drum roll and a repeated melody of an organ, supported by bass and terminated by a few cutting guitar chords. During this part 2, Alice repeats the lyrics but the volume of the voice is too quiet and therefore you can hardly tell what it’s all about. It is even possible that the murderer is still alive and well present at the funeral procession of one of his victims. Anyone having any idea how to get a little closer to the ultimate song meaning, or is a complete explication out of the question?
