Don't take Alice's demonic stage shows too seriously - it's all tongue in cheek and shock rock is no more than a nice niche

Do take his music seriously - School's Out evokes such strong memories when I hear it I can smell the disinfectant from the classrooms and corridors and anyone who can write a song as powerful as Only Women bleed must be taken seriously as a song writer

Vince is a clever witty and engaging man - we need more like him in the world

@JMan as Satan is an outcast angel it has no actual gender, for starters.

But how exactly is Alice Cooper NOT Satanic if Attack The Block IS?

Schools Out was my introduction to Alice Cooper in 1972, they became my immediate favourite band superceding T.Rex. Fortyplus years later Alice Cooper (band/artist) remains top of my list. Whilst Killer, Love It To Death and Billion Dollar Babies remain the best, latter albums continue to impress, including a few forgotten gems eg.DaDa.
Have seen Alice in concert 22 times and whilst a tad repetitive and formulaic these past few years, an Alice Cooper gig is still special.

An innovative band before 1974, and a variable solo act after 1974, Alice Cooper is one of the most under-rated songwriters of the classic rock era.

Aside from essentially creating the "rock show" - for which, alone, Alice Cooper's legacy should be secured - Alice Cooper (both the band and the solo artist) wrote nearly as many classic rock anthems during the 1970s as the Rolling Stones: "I'm Eighteen;" "School's Out;" "No More Mr. Nice Guy;" "Welcome To My Nightmare;" "Only Women Bleed;" "I Never Cry;" "Is It My Body;" "Billion Dollar Babies;" "Elected;" "Under My Wheels;" "Go To Hell;" "How You Gonna See Me Now?" and on and on.

Originally an American counterpart to T. Rex and David Bowie, except raised on horror movies and junk food rather than Byron and Harold Pinter, Alice Cooper's early albums created a template for punk rock.

An underrated lyricist, Cooper (the man) is able to write Lennon-esque ballads (e.g. "I Never Cry,") Zappa-esque comedy (e.g. his 4 early '80s albums,) and Van Halen-style, non-blues rock (e.g. "Cold Ethyl") - in the latter case, several years before Van Halen, and with just as much tongue-in-cheek humor - with equal panache.

During his "comeback" during the late 1980s-early 1990s, Alice Cooper became something of a parody of himself, despite releasing successful albums. Like several '70s and early '80s icons, Cooper re-discovered his early sound in the new millennium, and released several successful albums.

THE shock rock god. Forget jokes like Marilyn Manson. Rob Zombie does pretty well too and KISS are obviously up there with Alice Cooper, but Alice Cooper is still the best. And he did it earlier. Others used shock before him, but he made an entire show out of it. And he was still able to bust out some kickass anthems. The longevity of his career is also mind-blowing.

Great classic rock artist. Unfortunately I believe many get lost and focused on the shock rock image and don't realize the very high quality of some of his work. Anyone who is a fan of 70's classic rock should be able to find at least a few albums from Alice Cooper to enjoy.

Take away the theatrics and you have some of the best albums of the 70's in Killer, Love It To Death, Billion Dollar Babies and School's Out. An essential band.
