Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 75.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.7.

Got drawn in by that lovely album cover and was not disappointed. Actually bought the album halfway through the album.

Some great moments and some forgettable ones. Impressive vocals throughout. "Pressure to Party" is a fantastically-written song. The ending of "Don't Know How to Keep Loving You" is really emotional. I appreciate a lot of the more vulnerable parts of the album. It does a great job of conveying the real emotions that come with serious relationships. The confusion and contradiction expressed are particularly poignant.

In 2016, I discovered Julia Jacklin and her charming indie pop. The singer-songwriter from Sydney settled comfortably in the game with her first album. For this beginning of 2019, she intends to hit hard with "Crushing". Like every indie rock artist who respects himself, inspiration is always in the experiences of the past. "Crushing" is a breaking record: the Australian have something special and this special thing is the originality. The second opus of the Australian will reach you in the heart with his heart-rending songwriting and its intimate and touching atmosphere.

more soulful than most of this type of stuff that's out there at the moment. Heartfelt lyrical themes and the low-end production is excellent (the kick drum and bass in the first track just grabbed my attention).

I'm not a big fan of the first track, but 2-4 are all amazing. The rest of the album isn't quite as exciting at first, but sounds better each time I hear it. My favorite song is definitely "Don't Know How to Keep Loving You". It's unbelievably intense!

It's not an easy listen at first, but it rewards focused listeners. Jacklin has some astonishingly empowering lyrics here
