Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 83.7/100, a mean average of 82.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

Qué gran disco. Mucha versatilidad de Tyler the Creator. Mis favoritas han sido IGOR'S THEME, A BOY IS A GUN y GONE, GONE / THANK YOU, que arguably es la mejor del album. WHAT'S GOOD me parece muy infravalorada. EARFQUAKE es buenísima, y el album cierra de manera hermosa con ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? No me esperaba mucho de este disco y me resultó una agradable sorpresa.
Very good, I had no expectations and it impressed me, definitely worth a listen.
Great synths. Great vocal effects. Great atmosphere. Great tracks. Musical highlight of the decade, and I don’t really even listen to that much rap.
There are a couple of musical moments that grab my attention. The hook on Earfquake, the progression on Are We Still Friends. Maybe a couple others where I find myself hooked, for a moment.
And yet. The rapping isn’t good and he has nothing to say. Don’t leave me, I’m over you, let’s be friends. Really? Shouldn’t someone called the creator have something creative to say? No wonder she left you bro.
The production is out of this world!!!!
I like this album but, this is nowhere near as good as Flower Boy for me. The best part about this album is the production it's really good in my opinion. The lyrics just aren't as appealing as Flower Boy. I think it's innovative though which isn't something that is very common in music nowadays. I hope he keeps trying to be creative with his music and stays with these album concepts.
Best Tracks: New Magic Wand, EARFQUAKE, What's Good & IGORS THEME
Worst Tracks: I Don't Love You Anymore & Exactly What You Run From You End Up Chasing
Kind of fun, but not as much my thing as something like Flower Boy. I still liked it, I just didn't vibe with it like I did with Flower Boy.
EDIT: Listened to it again and I've changed my tune. This album is brilliant. I don't know what I missed the first time, but now I got my eyes open.
I can see how this album would be divisive...
Super creative work by an artist really shifting into gear, but it's a bit of a mess at times. I prefer Flower Boy.
This is ostensibly an experimental hip hop album, but it doesn't seem to offer up anything I personally haven't heard before. This would be a great album for someone who likes hip hop and to base themselves in the familiar and seeks incremental changes to sound, slowly over time.
Nothing for me here.
My introduction to experimental hip-hop. Really, this album transcends genres. Tyler brings out his A-game in this largely beautiful record
