I found this really dull. Just never been a fan of that whole trip-hoppish minimalist electronic thing. Leaves me utterly cold.
As for 2014 albums, I'm finding myself enjoying Sheezus more than I thought I would, which almost saddens me. Hard Out Here's beat is just... dayum.
I found that album really warm beneath a cold veneer, like an emotionally repressed father hugging his child, or like a song by LCD Soundsystem. Anyway, I liked it. But each to their own. _________________ If you're reading this, that probably means that I had something to say.
Sounds like a mix between a Keane and an earlier Coldplay album. Very poppy music from the meccawecca. It sounds very much like a product of England for an American album ๐ฒ
Everyday Robots by Damon Albarn
Mr. Tembo is where I heard the magic noise which gave Blur and Gorillaz ๐
So excited for that. Hip-hop has been a bit of a let down this year apart from Pinata.
And that Timber Timbre album is pretty good too. I need to get around to listening to it again.
Some of my recent 2014 listens
The good:

Neutral. Wasn't a big fan.. But it's cool sounding, and pretty fresh. Opening track reminds me of Sinead O'Conner a bit (in a good way).

Thumbs up. Surprisingly good in my opinion.
The bad

Thumbs down. Bleh. Pretty flat release.

Thumbs down unfortunately... Like, it wasn't horrible, but just disappointing. Again, just a very flat release.

Thumbs down. I'm usually a fan of almost every album that comes out of Stones Throw, but this is just a sloppy EP from Homeboy Sandman. Cool cover though.

Thumbs down. Boring.
So, yeah. Not the greatest week for discoveries for me ๐ _________________ Doubles & Conch

Agreed ๐ If the entire album is up to that standard or above, it'll be one of my favourites this year no doubt. Jazzier than Black Up, yet it still has that crunch that they had on the first album. If they step up lyrically, they could really make a hip-hop classic.
And I just listened to this:

And it's pretty cool. Top-notch production, with Break A Mirrored Leg being the highlight. _________________ Doubles & Conch

Lost In The Dream was a lovely sounding album. Didn't get much words from it though. Singing wasn't life changing for me. I swear I heard someone comparing it to Bruce Springsteen. That said, haven't heard High Hopes yet.
