That album doesn't get officially released until the 7th, won't be allowed on the database until then. Leak release dates don't count.
I presume 2014 charts will be active as of tomorrow. Though for most people I guess it'll take awhile to get going. _________________
Only the original version of each official release is used on BEA. Leaked releases can get pulled, or be changed, before they are officially released so it would have to be modified afterwards if it's wrong, and if it never gets released for some reason, we'd never know when to delete it and would have an invalid item on the system. The same rule applies to all releases, so not just this one.

Digital releases are fine, so long as they are official and are available to download now and not just on pre-order (also noting obviously that some releases do not have a physical release so digital releases are perfectly legitimate).
Spotify is a strange case as they are streaming the album to you, and you are unable to purchase it ( https://support.spotify.com/uk/learn-more/faq/#!/article/Changes-to-the-Download-store ). For that reason, I don't think a Spotify release should count as the official release date for an album unless it is legally available for download/purchase (an iTunes or Amazon release would be different).
Please don't add albums that have not been released yet. It creates headaches for those who are doing the data moderation, and it's frustrating to have to flag albums for deletion because they don't officially exist. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

2014 albums with future release dates are being entered daily, and more and more frequently. Is the following possible?
An album is entered with a release year that is the current year. Before allowing the data entry to be saved, the system, upon hitting save, asks for a specific date of release. If that date is in the future, the changes are not allowed to be saved and the album is flagged for deletion.
If an album for the current year is found to have been entered with an incorrect date, a data moderator can correct the date. If that date is in the future, the information previously entered for the album is removed, and the user who entered it loses the moderation points. The album is flagged for deletion.
Albums like this would be ineligible for inclusion on charts.
I don't know how feasible this is, but it might help to discourage what seems to be an increasing run to get new albums into the system before they've even been released.
Thanks! _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold
