This guy is like a alternative reggae / Hawaii island music, Paradise is the album he released this year. My favorite song on it is Stinky Air, with lines "But you can hide behind your screen" "you only like to talk when you are online"

I'm only halfway through, but I'm really digging this. He had some average stuff on Ketchup, but I think this is a few steps up. Lil Wayne probably has his best verse since 2008 on this too. It's a synth-based trap style production, and even though nothing is dance-y, none of these songs would feel out of place at a club. Nothing too complex either. _________________ Doubles & Conch
I've been meaning to post this here for a while. Latlaus Sky has finally released the debut album, The End of Sorrow. It's in a similar vein as Susanna / Jenny Hval's Meshes of Voice album. I've listened to it a dozen times now, and it's one of my favorites from this year. You can hear it here:
The new Hookworms album (which is a very quick return from their debut last year) is shaping up to be fucking insane, and that's both in terms of quality and how batshit crazy it's looking. We've already had this superb single from last year and this absolutely insane song released a couple of weeks ago which will both be on the new album, The Hum, which is being released in November. Now we have this:
This is shaping up to be one of the best, if not the best, albums of the year, which would follow nicely on from Pearl Mystic being my album of the year last year.

Helado Negro's new LP Double Youth is pretty awesome. imagine a mix of tropicalia and krautrock.
I've also been pleasantly surprised by the new Cymbals Eat Guitars record. Never loved this band but they've suddenly captured some indie guitar magic.
And since the Poe isn't around, I think it's worth noting that Natural Snow Buildings released a new album this year to far less fanfare than it deserves
