On some days you could convince me this is their best. I've never heard anything that quite compares to the (ostensibly?) innocent charm of early B&S -- I enjoy their later work as well, but it's just too... self aware, I guess.

I'm sure everyone has those albums that immediately transport them to the place/state of mind they were at when they originally discovered it. This is one of those albums for me. I'd enjoyed it for years, but for whatever reason I was really drawn to B&S and specifically Tigermilk while on my honeymoon, and now it will forever remind me of those two weeks. These songs are plenty great without that association, but for me it makes them even better.
Also, "The State I Am In" is one of the great opening tracks on a debut album.

On Belle & Sebastian's albums, the best track is always #2.

I was surprised, I was happy for a day in 1975
I love it, there are times that I like it more than If You're Feeling Sinister, but actually there are no comparison, just joy, the lyrics here are really amazing, the meaning behind them, without counting that the band was in perfect "shape" that time, it's an album that I can listen in almost every mood I am in, it's very flexible in this case, also "the State I Am In" is probably the best song ever created. _________________ Top 100 Hits you must hear before the u... of beauty

I love this album almost as much as IYFS. In addition to the first two tracks, I also love "My Wandering Days Are Over". I like every song here, even the maligned "Electronic Renaissance".

I like Electronic Renaissance.
But holy fucking shit is it badly mastered. Why is it so much louder than everything else on the album? _________________
