We all know the famous Lester Bangs quote about Jim Morrison being a "drunken buffoon disguised as a poet", but I think what makes this one of the best albums of all time (and "Break on Through" possibly the single greatest rock single ever recorded), is how it combines the primal with the intellectual until you can now long tell the difference. Some of the moments may seem a bit trite now, but for its time this album was unparalleled both in how scary and sexy it could be.

Not sure if that was intentional, but it pretty well sums up my feelings about the quality of his disguise. I usually can't make it past "Twentieth Century Fox."

One of the albums that I really don't understand the love for. I sometimes like it a bit. But generally it comes across as something falling FAAAAAAR short of great.

I had listened to "Break on through" on radio stations since I was little and found it really good and quite enjoying. I didn't imagine that, years later, when my parents played the CD, I would find better songs and very few worse songs than the single on the album. A fantastic classic (1967!) album which has, as another user said, has reached to the heart of people who aren't that much into the psychedelic rock/blues rock genre.
