Last concert you went to

Went 7 pages back and didn't see a topic. Saw MGMT last night at the waterfront in Burlington - kind of the opener for the annual Maritime Festival, I guess. They've got a couple of good songs, but for the most part I find them boring and there's even a song that just grates on my nerves for the housefly-buzz sounding synth/amplifier settings they have with it. Opening act Violens was better - not breaking any ground here, very derivative (one song sounded very much like an 80s U2 song complete with The Edge's guitar sound, and there were shades of Smiths and Violent Femmes as well amongst others I'm not familiar with I'm sure - though the Femmes were the only band they listed amongst their influences on their Facebook page). They release their first album next month so I may be looking for it at some point. Waterfront Park is actually a pretty good concert venue, and both bands seemed impressed by the sunset over the lake (Lake Champlain, incidentally, with New York's Adirondack Mountains in the background). Can't imagine people living in the $800k condos nearby were all that impressed with the noise levels, though :lol:

Saw Courtney Barnett a couple weeks ago and she was excellent! Her new material has been growing on me a lot.

I will be seeing Mitski with Sidney Gish on August 16 so definitely looking forward to that 😁

Down To Earth

I went to see King Crimson tonight at Bournemouth Pavilion. They were awesome. An amazing assault on the senses and very smooth with the slower numbers too. All the musicians were top drawer stuff. They could really play. And the singer, Jakko, has an amazing voice.

And they had 3 drummers. It rocked the place. They did all the ones I like. Although they didn't cover David Bowie's Heroes, which they often do as an encore, I've found out. But they did a cracking, heavy and long version of 21st Century Schizoid Man for an encore so that's okay. I came away buzzing, and I'm not just talking about my ears. If you get a chance go see 'em. Worth every penny.

I THINK the last actual concert I went to was either Richard Thompson in early 2008 or the G3 Tour with Joe Satriani, which would've been the same year or 2009. Unfortunately I'm on a fixed income now and can't afford to go to concerts anymore. I went to a LOT of shows in the 80's and 90's and quite a few in the 2000's up until 2008-09.

Foo Fighters. Actually, not a huge fan, but they put on a really good show. Went with a friend too, so I'd say overall it was worth it.

Was meant to be going to Childish Gambino next week, but he cancelled, so that's a bummer... Should be rescheduled at some point, though.

I went to a couple free outdoor shows this month, but the last real "concert" I went to was Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death last month. Actually...not true. I went to Worst the following day. Good weekend of back to back shows.
