This is easily my least favorite of the Billie Holiday LPs I've heard so far. Her voice is impeccable as always, but the song selection is not great. 3.5/5
This is supposedly a doo-wop album, but I don't hear much of the genre's signature sound. The music sounds somewhat unfinished and too many of the lyrics are weak. 3/5
Now this is a great doo-wop album, probably the best LP I've heard in the genre. It's actually half Coasters and half Robins, and it's a fun and upbeat listen. 4/5

A nice nocturnal live Monk album. Apparently this is Robert Christgau's favorite album ever. I don't see that potential here but it's worth a go. 3.5/5
This was a pleasant album of acoustic blues and folk, but it didn't animate me as much as it has some others. Fairly simple and repetitive. 3.5/5

Very strong, if unspectacular jazz record. It's amazing the kind of music Miles put out just to fulfill contract obligations - would be the highlight of many musicians' careers! 4/5
For some reason I was expecting the music to sound more electronic than it did. Lots of easy listening flavor, but it's still a very worthwhile listen. 3.5/5
It's a pretty good doo-wop album, but there's a lot of filler packed around the massive hit. 3.5/5

I've been updating a lot of my charts lately, but I don't want to overload the chart talk thread, so I'll leave this here. Today I updated my Best Albums By State & Nation chart for the first time in almost two years. It went from 80 albums to 105 albums, so I had to split it into two custom charts. In addition to adding a lot of states and nations and changing a lot of selections, I split up Brazil into states, and added honorable mentions wherever I could. There's also a new no compilations rule.
Gave my overall chart its monthly update today. Thirty-one albums are new to the chart, and two of those albums are new to the database. Check it out here:
