So I guess my post got lost when the site went down between Tilly and babyBlueSedan. I recommended babyBlueSedan to listen to Morrison Hotel by the Doors and Tilly recommended to me Incredible String Band.

I think that means things are cool to move forward?

Elliott Smith by Elliott Smith

I've been wanting to listen to this for a while. An intimate, haunting, album with a sad beauty to it. Easily the Elliott Smith album I like the most so far out of the three I've heard. 8/10, and 18/37 for 1995.

Finally I get to choose an album for you Zep from this VanillaBean chart. I've been wanting to give you this for a while. I'm not sure what you think of the mini shoegaze revival of the last few years but I've been loving it and Tired Of Tomorrow is one of the better albums.

Computer Music by J.K. Randall/Barry Vercoe/Charles Dodge

The composition of the music is probably more interesting than the music itself, but I'm happy to have listened to this computer speak.

Here's a little article trying to explain what is happening, but I barely understand any of it.

Tired Of Tomorrow by Nothing
It's a competent, if a bit safe, shoegaze revival album. I've never delved too deep into shoegaze (or this "revival" in recent years), because it's a bit divisive genre to me. I usually like the aesthetics and the overall idea, but often find myself not being captured by the songs themselves. This one is written well, it's loud, epic at parts, but nothing I haven't already heard. That's about the only negative I can see here, otherwise it's very solid. Like it, 7/10

Cardiacs are bound to be good I guess

VanillaBean's chart was pretty cool, loved browsing it. Now I know I said there will be no more 2010s charts, but since there were so many great decade charts in the last few weeks, I'd like to delve deeper into one of those. deepcuts is one of my favourite music reviewers (on yt), so it has to be good stuff.

Assuming my guess was right when my post was eaten by the outage and I was the only one with this album on their list (I think, albeit burred)

1.

The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by The Incredible String Band

Hmmm - I'm torn on this one. One thought I did have is it was like Joanna Newsome for 1968. The other thought I had was, but they weren't as good. The other thought I had was I feel like this was put at the bottom of the psychedelic pile. So while it had a lot of decent qualities combined together, it fell a little flat for me. Rubbed shoulders with some great ideas.

2. Curious what your take is on this one... as I didn't like it but it seems everyone else was crazed by it: 11/ King Krule - The OOZ

I think what happened is Tilly mentioned Incredible String Band in an unrelated context and it happened to coincide with an album from your list. I don't think anyone saw your lost post. babyBlueSedan has Nine Inch Nails to listen to. What did you end up thinking of The Electric Prunes?

The Obvious Identity by Cardiacs

This is a band that has slipped through the cracks for me. A manic early 80s British band is usually on my radar, but, for one reason or another, I've just never gotten around to anything by them. This is their first album, released on low quality cassette, that packs plenty of energy and creativity in a tight 40 minutes. I'm excited to listen to some more.

Go ahead and listen to Machito, and you'll have the 50's done.

The Ooz by King Krule
The main reason why I've never listened to King Krule before is one of my friends. She loves him, and that was a red flag for me. Now I see how wrong I was. Ooz has some problems, but despite all that, this was an excellent listen. It's too long, I'm not always a fan of Archy Marshall's voice and lyrics, and several upbeat songs (Emergency Blimp, Vidual) weren't too interesting. Half Man Half Shark was cool though. I find that this album is at its best when it's laid back, trippy and jazzy, maybe even a bit off time and vaguely avant-garde. Songs that hit the homerun for me were Logos, Lonely Blue, Czech One, A Slide In (New Drugs), and the last 4 songs which are an excellent ending sequence. I don't even need him to sing much tbh. The production is also worth mentioning, it's fantastic most of the time. I can already see that I'll spend some nights working with the impeccable flow and mood of the Ooz. Hope it'll grow on me, for now it's excellent 8/10.
