So I guess my post got lost when the site went down between Tilly and babyBlueSedan. I recommended babyBlueSedan to listen to Morrison Hotel by the Doors and Tilly recommended to me Incredible String Band.
I think that means things are cool to move forward?
I think what happened is Tilly mentioned Incredible String Band in an unrelated context and it happened to coincide with an album from your list. I don't think anyone saw your lost post. babyBlueSedan has Nine Inch Nails to listen to. What did you end up thinking of The Electric Prunes?
The opening track was amazing. I gave it 4/85. I remember saying something about what brought it down from a better rating (as good as it already is), but it's been a bit now...
Thanks for clarifying. My eyes just went to the bold area and was confused by a rec inside a rec.
I suppose no harm/no foul as the game has carried on.

Every time I listen to Jazz after a tough week in the morning I think of Hayden. A chill morning with coffee or a errands morning... maybe browsing NPR... anyway, It's a great refreshing album to wake up to. I jiggled my booty. Ironically it feels a little stifled, even if incredibly vibrant afro-cubano jazz.
2. Jlin- Black Origami - now this one I did like at first listen. But it lost my interest on the 3rd or so.

Don't have time to add this right now, but thought I'd post anyway. Not the best first side; it was mostly just some noodling and strange voices (almost Schoenbergian at times) but nothing tht interesting. However, the second side is much more creative and exploratory with its sound, and the tracks are much shorter. The first track on side two is this crazy (I guess you'd call it Jazz) number that is unlike anything I've heard on another electroacoustic album.
Seth, the folk stylings of Fred Neil will be next.

The primary genre of this on RYM is simply experimental. And that sounds about right. You've got Scott Walker singing and speaking abrasive, surreal, avant-garde lyrics over abrasive, surreal, avant-garde instrumentals. It's certainly interesting, and far better than what most of his contemporaries were doing in 2012 (playing the oldies circuit, mostly). But is it good and enjoyable? On first listen, to me it's just okay. It has good moments. And it also has a lot of moments that don't work, like Walker recording his own farts and/or stools. Overall, this was worth experiencing, but I doubt I'll be going back to it. 2.5/5.

2. Take it from the top.

3. Because February is almost here and it sometimes takes me a while to get to these, I'll start using a list compatible with the Black History Month listening project now.

Wow, two very distinct sides to this album. A beautiful ethereal side and a kinda creepy kinda progressive side. Starting at "Toy Box" this album goes on a candy-colored nightmare trip from hell for a couple of songs. Or something like that. ๐ I enjoyed this a great deal.

Black Origami by Jlin
Well this required some mind gymastics. It's a very experimental IDM I guess, glitchy and in-your-face, even abrasive at times. Percussions and drums were incredible throughout, and the production is spot on. Some astonishing sounds. I read a quote by her somewhere where she said (parapharsing) that she wanted to make complex music, like origami. And that's exactly what it sounds like, a collage of different percussion-led music. The influences vary from Eastern music to African tribal drums (on Nandi) to Indian style percussion. Liked it, but I'm not sure if I'll listen to it that often. It's not exactly an easy listen, and I'm afraid that when it stops surprising me after a few spins, I won't like it that much, a bit like what RoundTheBend said. But maybe I'm wrong, I'm now 2nd listen in and it's still very cool. 7.5/10
