Sorry just my feeling but I did like The Wild Hunt very much. Otherwise I only listened to Shallow Grave. Maybe I should try to listen to another one?
Nah no worries. I can see how these albums may not scratch the needed itches for everyone or even most people. I personally adore There's No Leaving Now. And I consider it part of the holy trinity of The Wild Hunt/Sometimes the Blues Is Just A Passing Bird/There's No Leaving Now. But I get it.

It's indeed the best song on the album (together with the title track) and the guitar sounds fine but nothing that really catches my ear.
West by Wooden Shjips
Also a very good album where the droning sound works brilliantly well: sometimes they sound like Sabbath, sometimes they sound like Crazy Horse (on the fantastic Home) but they always sound like Wooden Shjips. And this is only the second time since Hüsker Dü where I actually enjoy a song being played backwards. This albums deserves the 14th rank of my 2011 year chart.

But here you hear that besides good jamming (and it's really good here), Ripley Johnson also knows a thing or two about songwriting.
I See Seaweed by The Drones
This is about the best discovery of this round: what a great and disturbing album. There is weirdness in all tracks: sometimes the lyrics, sometimes the manic singing, sometimes the weird instrumentation (all of a sudden some kind of symphonic thing in Laika but in most cases it's the guitars which do it) and in many tracks there is a (mostly long) evolution from a calm (but still weird) start and ending in a weird chaos. Except for A Moat You Can Stand In which is weird chaos all over and also my favorite track of the album. Might be a grower (currently ranked 8th of 2013) and I'm looking forward to hear other albums by this great Australian band.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Why not go for the top album of 2004. I personally think it's not their best but of course it is a classic of the 2010's and it rises from rank 11 to 7 on my year chart.

Frozen Letter by Spider Bags
A good punk album with some longer tracks at the end which range from not so good to as good as the shorter tracks: lands at the 34th rank of 2014.
Brace The Wave by Lou Barlow
I'm a fan of the man especially of his work with Sebadoh and of course Dinosaur Jr but I have the impression that he's overdoing his lo-fi thing a bit on this album. The instrumentation here is very sparse and the DIY atmosphere is all over the place which was really him in his younger years but not really anymore in this stage of his career. It's still a good album with some nice songs but not really of the same quality also emotionally as on his other album and it descends from the 21st rank to the 40th of the year.
