7/10 album for me. It doesn’t stand up to Off The Wall and Thriller that precede it. I think the title track here is just okay too.
MJ and 80’s pop are synonymous of course but the production here feels somewhat significantly dated, especially when the songwriting isn’t top tier on cuts like Speed Demon.
However, I think it’s a pretty solid album overall. Man In The Mirror and Smooth Criminal are two of his best songs. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

title track grew off me but I still think this is wanna the absolute best albums that pop music has offered in history. Liberian Girl, Leave Me Alone and Smooth Criminal are speechlessly amazing, probably my 3 favorite songs ever. _________________ My Top 100 :
