I've been going to the High Tide Festival every year since it started six years ago and it just continues to get bigger and better each year.

Had to take 2 1/2 hours out this year though to watch the lionesses play Spain. What a game, what a result, so didn't get to see as many acts as i usually would bit still saw some great stuff and met up with a load of people so all in all, a great day.

Going to post individually about each act.

Got a little side-tracked in posting the High Tide line-up.

The first act that I saw on the day was at the Green Stage a little outside the town, 10 minute walk, but which has become a mini festival in it's own right.

ABS is a soul jazz singer with an extremely good voice, decent backing band and very decent songs. Thoroughly enjoyable way to pass an hour or so.

I was looking for any releases by her but couldn't find anything.

Next up on the Green Stage at High Tide 25 was Marla Mase a NYC resident who plays in the UK quite a bit, mainly because of her association with NYC producer, label owner, musician and all round musical powerhouse Tomás Doncker

Indeed, Marla was supported by Tomas's backing band the True Groove All-stars with Tomas on lead guitar.

Marla is a bit of an acquired taste. In your face social commentary and angst a-al Patti Smith or Lou Reed with a mainly spoken word delivery.

She actually went down really well with the Twickenham crowd which was good to see.

She will divide opinion but I like her

We then left the Green Stage and took a walk back into the main part of Twickenham for the gig by Westley Horner at the Lion & Rose Stage.

Well, we tried to but it was heaving at this indoors venue so only got to listen to Westley for a song to two. What I heard from this Americana artist was rather impressive but it was just too packed for an enjoyable listen, which was a shame

Next up at High Tide 25 was a refuel of some great street food and a cheeky pint or three and off to the tent to watch the Lionesses beat Spain in the Euro final.

Having safely navigated the penalty shoot-out, the match finished just in time to see Roseanne Reid, daughter of The Proclaimers Craig Reid deliver a wonderful set at my favourite High Tide stage, Patchworks

Caught up with a few friends who were also their for the gig and with a mate on the mixing desk, we were in a great spot

exquisitely delivered folk to a very appreciative audience. Fabulous voice and great signwriting. A star of the folk scene to be sure

Last but certainly not least, channelling his inner Neil Young was the fabulous Peter Bruntnell

I've seen Peter play many times but this gig at Patchworks (High Tide 25) was something special.

Playing with a full band they played extended versions of his songs, with great guitar playing finishing with a fabulous version of NY's Down By The River

A great end to a really good festival.

Last night I Saw JJ Grey & Mofro at one of my favourite London venues, the Assembly Hall in Islington.

Third time that I've seen them play and yet again, a great gig. Muscle Shoals meets Southern Rock in perfect synergy. So much energy and great, nee fabulous, musicianship from these Floridians.

Can't wait for the next time.

Worth a mention, Eddy Smith & The 507 supported JJ Grey & Mofro last night and were pretty splendid.

A blend of Americana, Blues and a bit of country, they complimented JJ Grey perfectly. So impressed was I that I'm going to be looking out for their albums
