Only an album I already own from 2017 (nothing on my wishlist for the moment):
Sciencing (2017) by Millionaire
I bought this album because some of the albums of this Belgian band are OK but this one isn't so I'm removing it from my year chart.

Two albums of 2018 I listened to:
First an album I already own/know:
Echoes In Blue (2018) by City Calm Down
They sound a bit like The National although maybe with a touch of New Order. Not a bad album which goes from the 73rd to the 74th rank.
And an album from my wishlist:
Lost And Found (2018) by En Attendant Ana
Perfect French jangly dream rock and the middle three tracks starting from This Could Be are the perfect examples. A very fine debut album of this band who would make other fine music later on and this one lands at the 47th rank of the year.

Two albums of 2019 I listened to:
An album I already own/know:
Close It Quietly (2019) by Frankie Cosmos
One of those years where I have more than 100 albums in my year chart. This albums weighs a bit too light to make it to the top 100.
And an album from my wishlist:
In League With Dragons (2019) by The Mountain Goats
The albums of this band flow by nicely and there is certainly some quality in them but in fact only Young is able to keep my attention so not really good enough to make it to my year chart.

Two albums of 2020 I listened to:
First an album I already own/know:
Mind Freeze (2020) by Haunt
I quite like this album which in my opinion one of the better metal albums of the 2020's. Not really inventive but I love the twin guitar attacks on many of the tracks. The album moves down from the 42st to the 59th rank of the year.
And an album from my wishlist:
Working Men's Club (2020) by Working Men's Club
A bit of a mix between New Order and LCD Soundsystem. It has some good grooves but the songs especially in the middle section are a bit bloodless. The long closer is quite interesting though because it goes in all directions without loosing its main groove. The album only just enters my top 100 of the year at the 98th rank.

Thx Repo, I listened to it and the guitar pyrotechnics are definitely there and although I miss some great songwriting quality it's certainly an album for my year chart. Talking about new/old metal albums, the newly already released tracks of the new Megadeth album seem to be good although I don't know what their "cover" (not according to Dave Mustaine) of Ride The Lightning will give.

Two albums of 2021 I listened to:
First an album I already own/know:
Cooler Returns (2021) by Kiwi Jr.
Cool album by this cool band with many infectious and jangly songs and especially the title track jumps out. The album remains at the 33rd rank.
And an album from my wishlist:
Clang Clang Ho (2021) by Cub Scout Bowling Pins
One of the many impersonations of Robert Pollard I seem to have missed at the time. But maybe rightly so: the tracks are very short and he sings on many of them with a strange warbled voice I don't really especially since it goes together with sometimes very silly tracks. There are a few semi-gems (of which also the song with the silliest title @1 2 3) amongst the many misses so I'm still including this album in my 2021 year chart and just in my top 100 at the 97th rank but he would do so much better in the years after that with his proper band.

Hey dihansse!
What are your thoughts so far on that new Megadeth album? I like "Tipping Point" and "I Don't Care" a lot, but mostly it feels sort of uninspired to me as if Dave & the gang were just putting out product. Not enough "fire in the belly" as it were. Not surprising at his age I guess.
I think I have the perfect rec for you for last week ...
No (2026) by Langkamer
If you were drawing a line from Pavement's to Parquet Courts' sound, Langkamer would exist pretty much right in the middle.

Hi Repo, this is not a good album, it's a great album. It has a bit an off-kilter I really like and in that sense they have a bit the same vibe (but not really the sound) as bands like Luna or Thin White Rope besides the bands that you have quoted. I've got now 6 albums of 2026 in my year chart and this one is the best. Without you I suppose I would have never found out about this one so many thanks.
As for the new Megadeth I'm with you, it's not bad but they're showing their age.
