Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.8/100, a mean average of 69.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

Puts a smile upon my face with every listen…good stuff

80/100 (Consistently beautiful, joyous and energetic Indie Rock album that doesn't take itself seriously yet manages to serve up enough pop hooks and rock solid songs to make this seemingly dime a dozen indie rock album stick out as a lowkey gem.)
This album flies by in a sweet, bouncy, insouciant rush. 13 vibrant indie rock/pop tracks in 35 minutes, and not a minute of down time. Sometimes I just want a fun record full of funny lyrics, bright melodies and anthemic choruses and a varied and engaging stylistic arsenal, and this afternoon was one of those times and this album was just what the doctor ordered.
The comparisons I can make for this album will come across as the most by the books Indie Rock comparisons imaginable. I guess just imagine a less heavy and less serious Pavement, with more jangle. I think that's a somewhat accurate description. But as you dig deeper you'll hear some really energetic somewhat Punky or Weezer parts, some slacker pop gems delivered with an offhandedness that would make David Berman proud, you'll here some sweet jangle pop, some buoyant infectious indie pop, etc. I mean there is nothing revolutionary here but there is nothing uninspired either. Somehow Kiwi Jr manages to take a whole variety of familiar sounds, and make something that is there own. And I for one quite like it.
Track standouts are the killer 2-minute opener "Tyler", the infectious "Maid Marian's Toast, the pop punky jangling "Highlights of 100", the breezy, personable, harmonica-included (you know I love any harmonica...instantly makes it better lol) "Only Here for a Haircut", the rocking title track, the incisive "Omaha" (MORE HARMINICA!), the brilliant "Dodger" and on and on. Most of the songs here are good fun, feature great pop hooks and don't take themselves too seriously and I consistently like to love them.
It's jangly, energetic and utterly unoriginal. Done before, soooo many times.
