  • Post subject: Greatest Film Performances Tournament [EXPRESS]
Due to my tragically limited internet access, I've begun thinking about how I can compartmentalize my visits to BEA. So here's something I want to try out, I'm calling it a Tournament Express. If anyone else is interested in trying it out, we'll nominate the usual 32, 64, or 128 nominees for the greatest film performances of all time. After the nominees are set, I'll randomize the matchups as is the norm, but then post all the matchups right in one thread. No poll, votes will be counted by you either sending a PM or posting in this thread your picks for the winner in each matchup.

For example, let's say there's eight nominees. The matchup would look like...

1a: Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood vs. Madonna in Swept Away
1b: Anthony Hopkins in the Silence of the Lambs vs. Pauly Shore in Bio-Dome
1c: Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice vs. John Travolta in Battlefield Earth
1d: Marlon Brando in the Godfather vs. Mariah Carey in Glitter

So you could either post here or PM your picks for each matchup. "1a: Day-Lewis, 1b: Hopkins, 1c: Streep, 1d: Brando"

Anybody else want to give this Tournament Express a try? It won't go faster than a standard tournament, but it will lead to less clutter in the Games forum.

So, here's the nominees so far....

Christian Bale in American Psycho
Astrid Berges-Frisbey in I Origins

Adèle Exarchopoulos - Blue Is The Warmest Color (2013)
Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight (2008)
Ralph Fiennes - Schindler's List (1993)
Joaquin Phoenix - Her (2013)

Those are my four. I was really tearing myself up for Julie Delpy in either Before Sunrise or Sunset, Ethan Hawke in any of the those 2 or Before Midnight, Robert DeNiro in Taxi Driver, Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally, Patrocia Arquette in Boyhood, and a few others. But yeah, that lead performance in Blue Is the Warmest Color fucking owns.
