Well, Thin Lizzy is one of my top all time bands.... and yes, "Jail Break" is great.... but so is "Johnny the Fox," "Fighting," "Vagabonds...," etc.... Likewise, "Boys are Back" and "Jailbreak" frm the Jailbreak album are killers.... But come on, let's scratch just beneath the surface here.... this band was soooooooo very talented and their catalog is way deeper and richer than the two hit singles played on the Classic Rock stations and the album from whence they came......

Very good album. Much more than just the two classics everyone knows. Songs like Emerald and Cowboy Song are great too.

From a studio perspective, Thin Lizzy is great and all, and this is probably their best, but it's live where they really kill it

"Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town". The jail maybe?

Thin Lizzy used to be one of my favorite bands back in my classic rock only days. I still like them, they're hokey and a lot of what they do is very predictable but I just like the way they handle the classic hard rock sound, it's got a playfulness to it. I haven't heard this album in like 3 years either though, so my assessment may be a bit off. Laughing

For some reason The Boys Are Back In Town became a huge joke on Tumblr recently and I still haven't figured out why.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about with tumblr, but I read an article where the writer went to his local bar and played The Boys are Back in Town on the bar's jukebox 18 times in a row to the point where everyone in the bar was on the verge of rioting and trying to figure out who was choosing this song over and over.

Late to this one, but gotta drop in and say I consider this one of the best albums ever. It's the pinnacle of an amazing band's prime years. It was the moment when everything came together for Thin Lizzy, Lynott became one of the coolest, and just subtly excellent songwriters. And the twin guitar attack was at a level that was astounding - every track has moments that are so beautiful and uniquely Lizzy with regards to its guitar solos and sound. And yeah Lynott as a vocalist is so absolutely emotional in this awesome deep booming, swaggering way. Something about Phil Lynott was so damn special. He's one of my favorite rockers ever.

And yeah, the SONGS man! "Running Back", "Romeo and the Lonely Girl", "Cowboy Song" "Emerald" and @The Boys Are Back in town" are just incredible. And the other tracks aren't far behind.

Yeah, Jailbreak is such an amazing album. Not any more "predictable" than any other classic album is. Actually, the amazing mix of surprisingly resonant and nicely detailed songwriting, soulfulness, and at times just straight rock and roll swag is pretty surprising. A marvel, really.
