  • Post subject: Albums you once loved but can't listen to anymore
  • Reply with quote
As a longtime music lover, I've gone through a lot of phases and there are a lot of albums I loved when I was younger, though I can't even bare to listen to them anymore because of how much I've worn them out. I'm sure lots of you have had similar experiences.

I'll start with AC/DC, a band you practically just can't escape. Highway to Hell and Back in Black were my absolute favorite records when I was in pre-middle school. I can still dig Highway to Hell every once in a while, just because I've always liked Bon Scott, but man I can't even sit through Back in Black anymore if you payed me.

I had the same experience with Metallica's s/t album. It was my first introduction to metal when I was in first grade. It blew my fucking mind when I first heard it and introduced me to a whole world of music previously unknown to me. I've heard it so many times now, though, that there's just nothing there anymore.

Of course I have a soft spot in my heart for those albums, as they were stepping stones in my music listening ventures. I'm not simply hating on them. It really sucks when you listen to something too much, but of course you know you've found a great record when you can wear the shit out of it and never get tired of it.

Pretty much anything by Coldplay. They were the first band I really got excited about back in 8th grade (yes, it took me that long to get into music.) I don't ever listen to them anymore, but of course still have a special attachment to Parachutes, ARoBttH, and Viva La Vida (and X&Y to some extent.)
