- Post subject: Recommended albums for someone just getting into Jazz
|
Any suggestions for albums that aren't too challenging for someone who has only just started to get into the genre?
I bought Kind of Blue as a first jazz album and am loved it.
So then I bought Bitches Brew, but for some reason, listening to it makes me anxious. haha!
So perhaps Im trying to ski the black diamond runs before the learners slopes...
Theres a good Jazz chart posted on here by RFNAPLES, but without much knowledge of the genre and all its sub genres, of course I don't know which albums may be suited to a more mature palate.
Like olives, anchovies, blue cheese, oysters, vegemite and haggis, I think Jazz is an acquired listening taste, that for some, like me, needs to be navigated into with a bit of an idea of what Im listening to

Black Coffee by Peggy Lee
This is technically vocal jazz, but it's the most instrument-heavy vocal jazz I know from the period.
