Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 83.6/100, a mean average of 83.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.0.

Absolutely spectacular. Every instrument shines. The band moves cohesively from song to song with memorable themes and well-developed melodic lines. A near-perfect Hard Bop Jazz record. 9.5/10!
One of my favorite jazz records of the 50s, pure hard bop with a blues/gospel feel lurking in the background, the band is in great shape and the sound is fantastic.
An interesting jazz record with some very good instrumentation and enjoyable performances from the whole ensemble. Moanin' is the standout track on here and it kicks this album off in style. The rest of the music carries on from where the first song left off but I don't think they reach that high again on the rest of the release. There is still a lot to explore and enjoy on here and the way he leads the group is brilliant. Overall, this isn't my favourite jazz release but I still like revisiting it for the highlights.
Great Jazz record that anyone can enjoy.
Man this album is awesome, one of my top favorites in jazz

He really is the driving force of this record. Even when he is just keeping time. He is just great a that!
The rest of the musicians are top players on peak form.
So the album sounds great and makes you move with loads of attack and punch.
Clearly musicians trying the push the boundaries of the standardized jazz from within.
Quite possibly the best hard bop album of all time!
Effervescent, breezy jazz and a core album for those wanting to get into the genre. A great place to start.
