What's your personal favorite soundtrack for a film? Note: I'm not talking about scores, or music specifically made for the movie, but a compilation of already released songs, (think Pulp Fiction)

My personal favorite is a tie between Guardians of the Galaxy and (500) days of summer

Perhaps 2001 A Space Odyssey. The Shining is another that immediately comes to mind.

Royal Tenenbaums for me - Nico, VU, Ramones, Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, that cover of Hey Jude. I can't listen to These Days anymore without recalling the scene at the Green Line Bus Terminal. Magical.

The ones I have in my collection:

About Time (2013) - A sweet and diverse soundtrack

American Hustle (2013)

Boyhood (2014) - Now this one is really fantastic

Django Unchained (2012) - Semioriginal but so awesome

Drive (2011) - Don't listen to it that often but fits the movie perfectly

Guardians of The Galaxy (2014) - Pure fun

Inglorious Basterds (2009)

Love Actually (2003) - Classic

Pulp Fiction (1994) - Do I need to say more?

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (2012) - So sweet

Trainspotting (1995) - Another classic

The Breakfast Club (1985) - Another one which is pure fun

The Wonder Boys (2000) - Makes me feel like a wise old man with these legends singing to me

If you count TV shows than Peaky Blinders really has a bloody phenomenal soundtrack with songs which totally fit that time and place of the show.
