ditto... of the options, Thick as a Brick was my choice. Although I hold 'Shine ON,' 'Lizard,' 'Tarkus,' 'Gates of Delirium,' and 'Supper's Ready' in highest esteem as well. Love to see the appearance of Nektar too.... good call!
I think the list could have benefited from some Rush, Dream Theater, and Kansas, as well as some PFM. Personally, I also like epics by Fates Warning and Haken.
(assuming your definition of prog includes progressive metal)
I would also say Magma and Soft Machine deserve a place.
Would love to have seen the two Steves make an appearance:
Hackett: Voyage of the Acolyte
Hillage: Fish Rising
I like everything you listed to one degree or another, and I haven't heard the Renaissance unfortunately.
But I have different favorites by these same artists. I'm not sure what your definition of opus is, does it have to be a whole album side or at least 20 minutes? All of the ones I'm listing here are all 20 minutes except for one. I'm not sure if 15 minutes counts as an opus.
Karn Evil 9... Emerson Lake and Palmer
A Passion Play (Part 1 or even part 2).... Jethro Tull
Remember the Future (part 1)... Nektar
Echoes... Pink Floyd
And You and I....Yes
