I don't know why, but I was just thinking about how prolific Black Sabbath was. 4 albums in 3 years, at least 3 of them are considered classics.

This is gonna be dominated by older bands that released albums every year.

But how about blur and their three albums from 1993-95?

It could easily be dominated by stand-alone musicians that release multiple albums each year and I don't think old has much to do with it e.g. Ken Vandermark summer 2015 thru summer 2018 = Resistance, East by Northwest, All Directions Home, Site Specific, Momentum 1, Momentum 2 & 3, Trebuchet, Wired for Sound, et al.

if you include EP's, Autechre are looking pretty solid for 95-97. Tri Repetae, Garbage, Anvil Vapre, Keynell Remixes, We R Are Why / Are Y Are We?, Chiastic Slide, Envane, Cichlisuite. I think that might be it for me.

Wayne Shorter 1964 - 1967

No less then 10 consecutive albums all receiving at leaat 4 1/2 stars on Allmusic. I've heard 7 of them and they're all crackers. Juju, Hear No Evil, Adams Apple and Night Dreamer. Gourmet stuff

First that springs to mind, Elvis Costello. Could pick a lot of periods, but his best (or at least my favourite) run, is 1980-82, when he released Get Happy!!, Trust and Imperial Bedroom. Of course, that's ignoring his country covers album Almost Blues, although that is very good too.

There are plenty of artists that have great albums in consecutive years though. A lot of them already very well known - Bowie, Beatles, Dylan etc.

Tough to beat this run between 1968 and 1970:

Creedence Clearwater Revival by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Willy And The Poor Boys by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Pendulum by Creedence Clearwater Revival

5 of the 6 were US top ten albums, 9 US top ten singles.

Ah, that's a good one. Maybe John Fogerty burnt OUT himself during this period?
