Hi folks, tragically, the 2017 BEAMAs never happened. However, if people are interested, I'd be happy to facilitate a best of 2017 tournament to fill the void.
If there's sufficient interest, here's how it would work: everyone can submit their favorite album of 2017. If someone else has already submitted your favorite, submit your favorite that has not yet been entered. The remainder of the 32 slots in the bracket will be filled by the top-ranked albums of 2017 on BEA that have not yet been mentioned. Then, the matches begin. Each match has its own poll. The first round will have polls open for a month to give everyone enough time to catch up on the albums they haven't heard. Then, every subsequent round will have polls open for a week until the winner is determined.

Now to decide on how the bracket will work. Traditional style, with the #1 seed playing the #32 seed in the first round, etc.? Or randomized, which would likely make the tournament more interesting but could lead to high seeds playing each other in the first round? My inclination is toward randomized, but I would be happy to hear people's opinions. Seeding would be in order of 2017 rank.
