For this purpose, gains are chart rank jumps as a percentage of original rank. In all, 19 albums gained ground during the tournament, 12 lost ground, and 5 had no change.
Not sure if anyone will be cheering here, but I suppose those are the results. Never thought I'd see the day BEA would deem a country album as their pick of the year, but here we are.
Glad to see the two highest gainers are lesser known picks, but I'm surprised to see Twin Fantasy there, especially considering it's a percentage.

Personally I think both the Low and Kacey albums are two of the best of the year. And that Nat Burchill album was an awesome cinderella. Really like that Crave album too so psyched to see it be the biggest gainer. Reminds me a lot of The Cranes as I've said before.
Was also psyched to see Whack World make it so far.

Twin Fantasy went from narrowly #2 to narrowly #1 during the tournament, so technically a 50% gain in rank.
