|
We've done favorite release per year type charts. As I sift through my library I find certain stretches of the alphabet are freaking amazing, like A-C or Q-S. So maybe let's do alphabet of artists?
Anyway, it's simple, so play if you'd like (using words like "a" and "the" however you see fit). I almost listed secondary choices, but then started getting weird after the 4th artist or something, so went with my first place of comfort.
Aretha Franklin
Beatles
Charles Mingus
Doors
Elbow
Fiona Apple
Glenn Miller
Hank Williams
Igor Stravinsky
Jimi Hendrix
Kingston Trio
Ludwig van Beethoven
Marvin Gaye
Nirvana
OutKast
Paul Simon
Queens of the Stone Age
R.E.M.
Sly and the Family Stone
Tom Petty
U2
Van Morrison (believe it or not, Brown Eyed Girl was the tipper)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
X (although this is the only slim pickin's for me)
Yo-Yo Ma
Zappa (little cheat, but first to come to mind... tough letter)

Rappers:
Andre 3000
Boosie
Cam'ron
Dizzee Rascal
E-40
Freddie Gibbs
Ghostface Killah
Havoc
Inspectah Deck
Jay-Z
Kendrick Lamar
Lil Wayne
MF Doom
The Notorious B.I.G.
Open Mike Eagle
Pusha T
DJ Quik (if this doesn't count in this completely arbitrary game, Q-Tip obviously)
Roc Marciano
Scarface
Tupac
UGK (technically, I guess it's U-God)
Vast Aire/Vordul Mega (take your pick, basically the same rapper)
Wiley
Xzibit
YG
Z-Ro
H, I, U, V, W, X are the letters I'm not particularly happy about. The others are all rappers I adore, but those entries were the best of bad bunches. Imagine a list of somebody's favourite rappers that contains Havoc but not Prodigy. Or U-God. Or Xzibit. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

@Mercury, I was wondering if you have heard of a cat named Bob Dylan?
Also nice play on GZA.
